Fintech BoostUP x Aevi: From fixed solutions to modular stacks built around the customer

Join Fintech BoostUP for an interview with Aevi CRO Victor Padee as he shares his perspective from Money20/20 Europe on how the payments landscape is evolving into more flexible, modular ecosystems. In this conversation, he explores why businesses are shifting toward “build vs buy” strategies, how retailers are rethinking the in-store experience with a growing mix of devices and embedded payments, and why orchestration is becoming critical to managing increasing complexity. He also looks at how stronger partner ecosystems, modular platforms, and the need to balance global scale with local acquiring flexibility are shaping the future of in-store and omnichannel commerce.

Transcript Highlights

What are the key trends currently shaping the payment acceptance and orchestration landscape, particularly across in-store and omnichannel commerce in Europe and worldwide?

The payments landscape is dividing into three clear approaches: scale and experience, where large players are focused on delivering seamless, consistent payment journeys; end-to-end, off-the-shelf solutions for businesses that want speed and simplicity without heavy development; and modular approaches that enable more flexibility and customization. At the same time, the market is accelerating, with more payment engines, use cases, and niche solutions emerging, making adaptability and modular, partner-driven stacks essential.

What are the biggest developments, innovations, or announcements Aevi is bringing to the conversation at Money20/20 Europe this year?

Aevi is focused on enabling more devices and expanding choice across the ecosystem, helping clients build a “super stack” that combines the right hardware with a wide range of acquiring options. By investing in certifications, hardware enablement, and host connectors, Aevi is delivering more ready-to-use capabilities, reducing the need for custom development and making it easier to scale.

Aevi works closely with PSPs, ISVs, and acquirers. How important is the partner ecosystem to your strategy, and what types of collaborators are you prioritizing moving forward?

Partner ecosystems are now critical, as building everything in-house is no longer viable. Success depends on making the right build vs. buy decisions and working with partners that align with your roadmap, pace, and mindset. The goal is to move faster, avoid reinventing existing solutions, and ultimately deliver better outcomes for customers.

What upcoming initiatives or strategic priorities should the market expect from Aevi over the next 12 months?

Aevi is focused on enabling more devices and increasing flexibility, supporting trends like bring your own device and embedded, in-aisle payments. At the same time, it is prioritizing support for all payment methods and multiple local acquirers, helping businesses balance global scale with local requirements. The aim is to simplify this complexity through a single platform and support a “global with local flexibility” approach as it becomes increasingly important.
