The payments landscape has changed dramatically compared to the past. Payments used to be viewed as a necessary evil. The interaction was simple: customers walked up, tapped or inserted their card, and that was it.

Now, with the rise of smartphones and smart solutions, customer expectations have evolved. The point of sale is no longer just a transaction, it’s a moment of engagement. As a result, customers want more flexibility. They expect to use different apps and payment methods directly on the terminal. That’s where Aevi comes in. Creating seamless and engaging customer journeys at the point of interaction is our specialty.

In some markets, card schemes like Visa and Mastercard are still dominant, but we’re also seeing more account-to-account payments and targeted payment methods emerging. That’s part of the new payments landscape, and it’s something Aevi helps facilitate.

A key enabler of this shift is openness, the ability to work with any provider running a solution on a payment terminal. Many merchants feel locked into legacy systems that limit their flexibility. They're often stuck with a closed payment terminal tied to a specific application, and they feel trapped.

Retailers today often lack control over their payments stack. If they want to make changes, introduce loyalty, switch suppliers, or add a new payment method, it’s a complex, often impossible process. Aevi changes that. Our platform breaks down those walls, letting merchants connect to any acquirer, add any payment method, and introduce new terminal types, all without being locked in.

We bring the simplicity of legacy terminals into a modern experience. In the past, you simply entered the amount, and the payment was done. We’ve carried that simplicity into an advanced, interactive UI that customers love, bright screens, intuitive flows, and frictionless transactions.

That’s what we call our “starter” solution, it gets businesses up and running quickly, especially those in sectors that don’t require complex POS systems. As those businesses grow, they can scale with Aevi and move into new market segments.

Independent Software Vendors (ISVs) can build their own point-of-sale experiences either directly on the terminal or externally, with Aevi managing the payment application. This allows us to support small and medium businesses as well as large-scale sellers, like ISOs or ISVs targeting multiple merchant segments, including Tier 1 retailers.

Each market segment has its own challenges. In unattended environments, for example, the user interface must guide the customer clearly, since no staff is present to help. Aevi enables that by allowing flexible content and branding on the terminal. Our white-label capabilities mean our partners can offer fully branded solutions as if they built them in-house.

That level of flexibility, being able to connect any terminal, support any acquirer, and run any app, is unique. We have customers working with 24 different acquirers and 9 types of terminals, and Aevi ties all those touchpoints together through a single platform.

We offer this through a white-label model. You won’t always see the Aevi name on the product, but the innovation and connectivity behind it are all powered by us. That’s rare in this space. Others might offer some elements, but Aevi connects every part of the ecosystem in a scalable, efficient way.
